Welcome to SDRadio for Thursday, Rocktober 5 — GO PADRES!
The GelderHead Thought Of The Day: Never mess up an apology with an excuse. ~ Unknown.
Lupita Rameriz tells SDRadio of a super secret traffic site. “Here’s a link to a free cell phone text message service that KOGO offers with breaking traffic and news alerts:
Traffic info.”The service is available for free. Lupita adds: “I issue the traffic alerts and the KOGO news department does the newsy part of it.” Thanks Lupita!
The San Diego Press Club’s 33rd Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards will be presented later this month. Phil Farrar, Kevin Finnerty, Sally Hixson, Stacy Taylor Show Staff, Roger Hedgecock Show Staff, and the KOGO News Team. More winners will be announced. (Pictured is KOGO’s Phil Farrar.)Karla Fox writes that she is the new music and promotions director at KURS-AM 1040. The Soul of San Diego is the area’s only full time gospel station in Southern California.
Chris Wilcox writes from way north in Alaska. “Absolutely still a Charger fan. Sunday’s loss sure was a shot to the crotch. Here’s a more recent pic of Sydney and I…she turns 2 two weeks from today…and we’ve got our SECOND KID on the way…Denise is due in March. As an Alaskan citizen now, we get paid by the state per person in the family so I’ve got to start cranking out the kids. This year EVERY Alaskan citizen got about $1100 (that’s from age 0 to death).
I see the website has just undergone some changes! Looks great. By the way, our website is undergoing some changes too. Soon there will be podcasting and we’re just re-tooling in general…as always www.woodyandwilcox.com.” Chris is joined with Woody at 100.5 The Fox in Anchorage. Chris adds: “The salmon is plentiful and the spinach is pitiful.”
Not Jackin’ with you: Jack FM’s Tracy J has his own blog. “Our game plan is to provide surprises every hour every day. From the songs we play to the listeners on the air to everything that goes on between the songs.
For years (decades, really) radio stations have taken themselves too seriously. Broadcasters over-analyze, over-research and work so hard to make their stations perfect that they remove the fun and surprise from their stations.” Read more at Jack FM.
Thank you for being a part of SDRadio today. More fine tuning and tweaking this weekend on the look and feel — and remember no more annoying log ins to the website. See you on the radio today — and at Bark Park at noon! GO PADRES!
