Blazin’ 98.9 has dumped a majority of on- and off-air staff. Officially know as XHMOR-FM, the street buzz consist of a format shift to compete with Channel 933 and Z90. LARadio.com report that charges of payola and illegal activities.
Operations Manager Lee Cornell told AllAccess.com, “The radio station has to be broader and more mainstream if it is to accomplish its goals. We plan to be a thorn in the side of Z-90 and CHANNEL 93-3. We can’t do that if we’re a niche like Hip-Hop without the rest of the big hits.”
MEC owner Mario Mayans said, “We’re lifting the level of professionalism for this radio station. We have a big signal in a big market. We intend to continue to serve our audience and our advertisers, but we’re adding to both pools. We’re looking for a PD and an airstaff.”
The station, at 98.9 FM broadcasts at 100,000 watts. The station’s website at Blazin989.com had Under Construction in the afternoon. An early evening check had the station’s website on-line. Stay Tuned.
