HOLIDAY MAGIC 2006 BRINGS JOY TO HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN

Donations Sought for Compilation CD to Pay Production Costs, Widen Distribution

GelderHead Productions, offering professional voice-over services to enhance business communications, announced today that it is spearheading the production of “Holiday Magic 2006…A Gift for Children of All Ages,” a CD featuring music and a holiday tale that will be distributed to sick children at Children’s Hospital San Diego and their siblings. A number of local singers and actors donated their talent for the CD, and funds are currently being solicited to cover the cost of production and ensure as many children as possible receive them.

Jeff Gelder, owner of GelderHead Productions, distributed 1,000 CDs last year; he hopes to exceed that number this year and plans to “play Santa” on December 14, so donations are requested prior to that date. Checks of any denomination should be made out to GelderHead Productions (with Children’s Hospital CD Fund on the memo line) and sent to P.O. Box 3386, San Diego, CA 92163-3386.

The tale on the CD is weaved by Jeffrey the Reindeer and Santa Claus as they make their way from the North Pole to visit the children of San Diego. Along the way they meet Jeffrey’s cousin, Carlito, who lives at the Wild Animal Park. The talent last year was once again remarkable, and included Beth Shelburne of KFMB-TV and Sam Bass of KyXy 96.5fm.

Other performers who generously lent their talent to the CD were award winning author and actress Vanna Bonta (Beastmaster, Hocus Pocus, An American Tale: Fievel Goes West, Beauty and the Beast, Where Sleeping Dogs Lie) extraordinary vocalist Eve Selis, singer and song writer Karl Anthony, vocal talent Beth Wernick, television music composer Sharon Farber, Erin McGraff, producer Dave Blackburn, Jay Kiernan, Kathy Bray, Jacob Mitchell, The Grams, Brittney Doehring, Meredith Chapman, Seth Hartman, Pete Snell, Brianna Cara, Valerie Lieberman, Mark Erwin, AudioGirlProductions, Bobbie Jo Curley, Dov, and recording artist Kerry Michael Warren. Writer Mark Patterson penned the script, and Santa Claus, Carlito, and Jeffrey the Reindeer are played by professional speaker Phillip Tanzilo, voice actor Greg Dehm, and Gelder also of KyXy 96.5fm, respectively.

The first CD was produced four years ago, when Gelder was tasked in a class to come up with a project that would enhance the community and ultimately take on a life of its own. That’s just what has happened, as Gelder now fields many inquiries about the CD as the holiday season approaches.

“This is a labor of love that is received with much joy by children who are unfortunately spending the holiday season in the hospital and their siblings, who often crave attention due to so much being given to the ailing member of their family,” Gelder said. “We appreciate all donations, since the more we raise, the more children will able to receive the CD.”
