AJ Machado, host of Channel 933’s morning show “AJ’s Playhouse,” will hoist himself above IKEA in Mission Valley and live atop a scissor lift “crane” until he collects 60,000 toys for “AJ’s Kids” this holiday season - 10,000 more then what was raised during last year’s event.
The fifth annual “AJ’s Kids Crane,” will kick off Thursday, December 7th at 8am in the parking lot of IKEA in Mission Valley. AJ will eat, sleep (and even go to the bathroom!) on the platform of the crane, until 60,000 toys have been collected for Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. The hospital will present the toys to patients during the holidays and store and distribute throughout the upcoming year.
Local companies are encouraged to set up collection boxes in their offices. Any group toy collections that are delivered will also be acknowledged individually on-air.
Also, this year toy donations may also be made beginning December 7th at any San Diego-area L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Restaurant, official co-sponsor of AJ’s Kids Crane for those who cannot make it out to IKEA in Mission Valley.
“This is a chance to take the generosity that the holidays spark in people, and make it last year-round,” said AJ Machado. “These toys will be distributed to deserving kids during the next 12 months.”
