Welcome to SDRadio for Monday, March 5, 2007. The world-famous [2] GelderHead thought of the day: Whatever you attempt, go at it with spirit. ~Unknown

Free FM afternoon host Penn Jillette bid good-bye last Friday. The one-hour Las Vegas based show was digitally delayed in San Diego and most markets.
“The reason we’re ending it,” Penn said, “is just because I can’t do more than an hour. You have to understand I am a show biz wimp, so I don’t even know what hard work is.”
Meanwhile, tonight at 7 p.m., The next generation of talk hits the air: GEN.Y.U. Radio takes to the weekdays at 7 p.m.
John, Kris, and Brent, all 23, grew up together in the San Diego and hold weekly on air arguments about society, politics, sex, relationships, business, and the future of their country and community.
John, the recovering law student, has no problem telling older generations exactly where he thinks they went wrong. John’s too-quick wit, a trait that has gotten him in trouble all throughout his life, has finally found a home in radio. John has recently been named as one of San Diego Magazine’s 50 People to Watch in 2007.

Kris, the poet, uses the most thought and care with his words like the English major he is. Although all three hosts consider themselves extremely funny, Kris is by far the funniest, something Brent and John both acknowledge everyday.

Brent, the rebel with a cause, will twist and turn callers’ arguments until they eventual start crying or hang up. When Brent does this to John, he gets very frustrated, which pleases Kris.

Magic 92.5’s Xavier The X-Man has been honored from the San Diego county Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The afternoon host at Magic was recognized for his “extensive volunteer work at community and schools.
Xavier is the first radio host to win the award.
Also: The X-Man writes: “I host this year’s San Diego Caesar E. Chavez Commemoration Breakfast at the San Diego Convention Center to recognize and promote the work of Caesar E. Chavez. This is a wonderful event that brings out San Diego’s movers and shakers of the San Diego community and recognizes those individuals who continue to following the workings of Caesar E. Chavez.”

18-months ago, KOGO’s Mark Larson was in the Iraq theater and compares CBS’ 60 Minutes to his trip: “The lead story on tonight’s 60 Minutes featured Brig. Gen. John Custer, chief of intelligence for U.S. Central Command: [3] Avail here. CBS promoted Scott Pelley’s story as a new revelation: The jihadists are using the internet for recruiting, with shocking results. Glad they’ve finally caught up with the story. Gen. Custer revealed all of this when I first interviewed him in the Middle East in September of 2005. And he’s updated this issue on more recent phone interviews and in-studio with us in San Diego a few weeks ago. He’s a very smart man, and we should be grateful to have him in such position of influence. Wish I could say the same about CBS News. But at least they’re getting with the story now… about a year and a half late.”
