“This is a tremendous, life-changing opportunity for me,” told the Baltimore Sun. He is leaving WBAL, 1090 AM, on Aug. 3.

Chip tells SDRadio jokes about coming to San Diego and learning local sayings like “La Jolla”: “I can barely speak English… Look forward to meeting everyone… Thanks for the note-great site.”

He’ll face Rick Roberts in the morning drive at KFMB, and veteran Mark Larson at San Diego 1700 in what could set the battle for talk radio in the market.

Apparently out is the morning news program at KOGO that has anchors Dave Mason, LaDona Harvey and Mark Evans.

KOGO has one other time slot to fill or make a commitment: the 6 to 9 p.m. drive time.

About Chip:: “Chip is the winner of the National 2004 Edward R. Murrow award for writing, never before won by a talk-show host.He also has four for Best Talk Show Host. A veteran stand-up comic and broadcaster with over a dozen national television appearances. “(WBAL.com)
