His broadcast career in San Diego includes Kool 99.3, K-Joy 94.1, Mix 95.7 and continues to host the weekend Beatles show (live of course) on 101.5 KGB. His vast background includes Pittsburgh’s WTAE and WHTX, WKRC Cincinnati and WBBF Rochester. Mason first joined then-Jacor Communications 16 years ago and remained with the the group when it merged with Clear Channel Communications. Listeners get to hear new material by members of AFI in an unorthodox setting.
Veteran alternative rock station 91X (XTRA-FM San Diego), will host a private listening party of CexCells, the debut album by Blaqk Audio, in the unique setting of BODIES…The Exhibition, on Monday, July 30.
Blaqk Audio, a side project of Davey Havok and Jade Puget who are also members of the rock band AFI, will release CexCells in stores on August 14. Havok and Puget are both scheduled to appear at the event, which will give 91X listeners the first opportunity to hear the new album before its release.
91X was one of the first radio stations in the country to play Blaqk Audio on the air with the single “Stiff Kittens.”
The private listening event will be held after-hours at BODIES…The Exhibition, which showcases real-life human body specimens that have been meticulously dissected and preserved through an innovative process, giving individuals the opportunity to view the complexity of their own organs and systems like never before.
“One of the great things 91X has always strived to do is give our listeners experiences they cannot buy,” said Phil Manning, 91X Program Director. “The ability to meet Davey and Jade, and hear their new project in this unique venue is a special opportunity and we are very excited to do this.”
BODIES…The Exhibition is located at 4425 La Jolla Village Drive, at University Towne Center.
