KOGO’s afternoon host and Radio Mayor of San Diego Roger Hedgecock is set for his national roll-out on Saturday. Syndicated Solutions brings Roger to the 9 a.m., to noon slot at KOGO and other stations coast-to-coast. The program has about 50-stations lined up, according to the syndication company, with KOGO as the flagship. Roger was previously one of the fill-in hosts for Rush Limbaugh on the EIB network. Early next year, Roger will move his show to a five-day weekday broadcast.
Also starting on Nov. 5, Roger will send a daily 60-second op-ed piece to the stations, including KOGO.
There is a big meetin’ at Granite Ridge today to finalize the start of sports talk on AM 1360. The much-talked but continuously delayed start date might be pushed back until a week from today.
The only confirmation from Clear Channel is in the job board; as upper management have not returned phone calls, nor email.
Thank you for making SDRadio part of your internet travels today! See YOU on the radio and here later in the broadcast week. Stay safe and healthy!

Today a temporary generator was installed at the KPBS transmitter atop Mt. San Miguel. The temporary power source is enabling KPBS FM to return to full power. KPBS HD, V-me and KPBS’ over the air TV signal are also back on the air.
KPBS was knocked off of the air at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when the power lines along Mt. San Miguel feeding the transmitter were burned in the Harris Fire.
When the power was lost, KPBS 89.5 FM went off the air, along with KPBS TV’s over the air signal, KPBS HD and V-me. KPBS TV via cable channel 11 was quickly restored via fiber lines sent directly to Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable. KPBS FM continued broadcasting via the live web stream on kpbs.org as well as on 97.7 FM Calexico.
Thanks to the generosity of San Diego’s FM 94/9, at approximately 8:30 a.m. the local alternative rock station handed over their airwaves to the KPBS radio news team in order to keep San Diegans informed of fire news and information. This rare move by a radio station was best summed up by FM 94/9 personality Tommy Hough just before turning over their airwaves to KPBS, “These are extraordinary times and this is an extraordinary situation. It’s in everyone’s best interest to hand over our airwaves to KPBS.”
KPBS has the largest radio news staff in San Diego and had been broadcasting with wall-to-wall coverage since early Sunday evening. This non-stop coverage continued for 75 hours ending Wednesday, October 24 at 10 p.m.
Shortly after losing the transmitter on Mt. San Miguel, KPBS Engineers began working to install a temporary transmitter on the tower on top of the KPBS Copley Telecommunications Center on the San Diego State University campus. The low-power transmitter put KPBS 89.5 FM back on the air early Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, KPBS continued to broadcast via FM 94/9 until 9 a.m. that morning – having delivered wall to wall news and information for a little more than 24 hours on their station.
Also on Wednesday, KPBS engineers were able to reach the top of Mt. San Miguel to assess the damage to the KPBS transmitter building. The visit confirmed that the power lines, wires and poles leading up to the site were all badly damaged in the Harris Fire. Fortunately, the KPBS transmitter building was in good shape, hardly touched by fire.
On Thursday KPBS engineers secured a temporary generator to return power to the transmitter. It was hooked up at approximately 4 p.m. Friday. The generator will be used until SDG&E finishes fixing and/or installing the power lines back to the site atop Mt. San Miguel.

Join the KyXy Morning Show with Sonny & Susan, beginning at 5:30am for Firestorm Relief 2007. Look for the KyXy Booth on the plaza at the NBC 7/39 Studios downtown at 225 Broadway. We’ll be there until noon. All funds received will be donated to the 2007 Salvation Army Wildfire and the Red Cross, San Diego Wildfire funds… ALL PROCEEDS WILL STAY IN SAN DIEGO.
The KyXy Morning Show is making it easy for you to walk or drive right up to our booth and drop off your monetary donations. We hope to see you!

Mt. Miguel, is the broadcast site for KLQV, KPBS FM and TV, KNSD-TV 39/HD40, KUSI, and KSWB-TV. As the Harris fire marched over the hill, note that the tower lights stay on — while KPBS-FM and TV were off the air. FM 94/9 donated their frequency to the public radio station — after all it is about the fires this week. Most of the stations have returned to the air. DirecTV viewers are getting KCET from Los Angeles until KPBS-TV is up and running.
Local alternative rock radio station 91X has moved their listener Halloween party and concert with hometown favorite Louis XIV to the San Diego House of Blues. Proceeds from ticket sales for the concert will be donated to the San Diego Foundation for Fire Relief Efforts.
The concert, scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, was originally to be at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. However, due to the recent wildfires and the Fairground’s service to evacuees, the event required a change in venue.
The San Diego House of Blues stepped in to host the concert in their main music hall, and waived facility fees allowing tickets sales to go to the firefighters.
Tickets for the concert cost $9.10 each. Admission for the all ages concert will be sold day of show only from the House of Blues Box Office at 1055 Fifth Ave starting at 10:00 A.M.
“This past week has been a challenge for everyone in San Diego, and a rock concert was the last thing on most people’s minds,” said 91X Program Director Phil Manning. “However, when House of Blues gave an opportunity to turn it into a fund raiser for the men and women fighting the fires, we couldn’t pass it up.”
“I think after all the recent stress we have endured as a city, now the concert might be a great way for people to smile and have fun again. Plus, they will be helping the firefighters which gives it a wonderful feeling.” said Manning.
91X is operated by Finest City Broadcasting, a privately held San Diego-based company founded in 2005. FCB also operates Z90.3 (XHTZ-FM) and Magic 92.5 (XHRM-FM).
Yesterday’s story that featured KOGO’s Lee Hacksaw Hamilton identified Jim Stone’s house being burnt. Reader Roger Otterson found the video that has Jim’s house safe and sound. View it at NBC San Diego.
Hacksaw’s story will be in next week’s Time, and can be viewed here.
With the week’s events nearly behind the county of San Diego, one of the best reports came from the advantage of Cal Walker. As he flew his plane over the county and reported on the tragic events of the fire, Cal had time to take photos.

The fire advances over the county as the sun rises.
The wall of smoke is nearly the height as Cal’s plane.
What a week for those who live in San Diego county. As the county cleans up …. thank you for stopping by. See you on the radio — and here next week.

From LARadio.com.
Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton was in the eye of the firestorm in San Diego this week. The sports talk host has been on a number of Clear Channel stations the last couple of days recounting a harrowing experience. (He was also a guest on Coast To Coast AM earlier this week. Lee can be heard on KOGO, 101.5 KGB and is slated to kick off the sports station at 1360 AM next week.)
Monday afternoon he told his story to the Loose Cannons midday show on KLAC: “This fire started Sunday afternoon, died down overnight, flared up about 2 o’clock in the morning. Winds changed and drove it into the heavily populated area of Rancho Bernardo, and Poway. They sealed off Interstate 15 from Escondido because of the fast moving fire. It is intolerable. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was a holocaust.”
Hamilton provided these details for LARadio.com: “We got a reverse 911 phone call at 4:15 a.m. Monday morning,” Lee told me by phone yesterday afternoon. He lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife and 93-year-old mother who has dementia. Lee continued: “When I picked up the phone there was nobody on the line. The wind was really howling. I popped up and put my hand on the window and the window felt warm. I looked and couldn’t see any fire but I was hearing sirens and people next door honking horns and slamming doors. I went downstairs, opened the front door and I felt a huge blast of hot air and that’s when I shouted to my wife, ‘we’ve got to get out of here right now.’”
They grabbed a couple of suitcases and threw in minimal clothes along with some documents. “In the rush I left my all my mother’s medications in the house so I spent all day Monday trying to deal with medical people on the east coast to get her medications and get them out here. All of the medical people were very helpful.”
Lee had 15 minutes to get out of his house in Rancho Bernardo. “It was like the firestorm jumped a mountain, came across the highway and landed on our street. At 4:30 Monday morning I virtually abandoned my home with no possessions. I had to move my 93-year-old mother and get her in the car. When I pulled out of my driveway, I thought I was saying goodbye to all my memories. I did not think that any of those houses were going to survive. It was like a wind tunnel. It was like napalm bombing. It was the most unbelievable thing I’ve ever seen. I was able to go back in the house twice but not a third time because I was afraid the burning trees were going to fall on the car and my wife and mother would be trapped.”
Lee locked the front door and pulled out of his driveway. “I couldn’t see five feet in front of me there was so much smoke, wind and debris. I have all kinds of burns on my arms and legs from the embers. It was like taking bullets.”
Was Lee scared? “No, I was very intense that I had to do this and do this very quickly. I tripped once and went face first down on the cement. I just looked up to the sky and said, ‘God, help me through this.’ And He did.”
Yesterday morning Lee appeared on the Today Show with Matt Lauer. “I went with one of the NBC people and got into my neighborhood because the whole place is in lockdown but they knew who I was. I turned the corner and there was so much destruction on the hills where I lived. I turned the corner onto my street and my house was still standing and I just started to cry. Only three of the twelve houses made it.”
For the past two days Lee has been working on pure adrenalin, knowing what needed to be done. “Monday at midnight I just crashed. On the enormity of what was happening you start thinking about all the things that were in that house and I really sincerely felt I was saying goodbye to everything I owned when I pulled out of my driveway.”
Across the highway from Lee is KNSD-TV 39/TV broadcaster Jim Stone. “He lost everything. This is terrible. It is like four years to the day of the Cedar Fire. I’ve never seen anything move this quick. The 2003 Cedar Fire had been burning for two days. We could look out our window at the mountains burning and flames going up and down the ridges. This was different because when we went to bed Sunday night this thing was 35 miles to the northeast and the wind had stopped. In the middle of the night the wind picked up and took it in a whole different direction and that sucker moved. That thing must have made 30 miles in a half hour. I looked out and saw no flame. Two minutes later I looked out the window and everything on the other side of the 15 was red. And then I knew it was coming. Within minutes everything on our street was ablaze. We had fifteen minutes. If I had gone back in the house a third time to try and get some papers we set aside, I don’t know if I would have gotten out. The trees were burning and falling on cars right around me.”
“We’re staying in a hotel down in Mission Valley. I think every hotel room in San Diego is taken right now.” Lee’s mom isn’t sure what is happening. “She can tell you want happened in 1936 but she can’t tell you what happened 15 minutes ago. Maybe that’s the best case scenario because she wasn’t terrified. You do what you can to make them comfortable.”
Lee is working with a friend who owns a condominium for temporary housing. There’s no power in Rancho Bernardo. “I went up to the edge of Lake Hodges and I counted 15 big, big power lines were blown over. The force of the winds must have been near-Hurricane force. I don’t know when anybody is going to get back in. I think it is going to be a long road back,” said Lee.

In an act of being a good broadcast neighbor, FM 94/9 has given KPBS-FM use of their transmitter.
From KPBS:
At about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, October 23, KPBS 89.5 FM’s transmitter was lost when the Harris Fire burned Mt. San Miguel. KPBS - with the largest radio news staff in San Diego - has been broadcasting wall-to-wall with vital news and information since early Sunday evening.
While KPBS’ radio broadcasts were still available on KPBS.org via the live web stream, as well as on 97.7 FM in Calexico, the loss of the broadcast signal for the San Diego community was devastating.
Shortly after losing the broadcast signal, KPBS and the management of FM 94/9, Lincoln Financial Media Company, decided the local music station would offer up their airwaves and broadcast KPBS’ signal.
“Getting timely information to San Diego residents is our top priority at this time,” said Darrel Goodin, Vice President and General Manager Lincoln Financial Media Company of California. “Here at FM 94/9, we have the utmost respect for KPBS and the great job that they do with news and information”
At approximately 8:30 a.m. FM 94/9 began broadcasting KPBS’ signal on their station - pre-empting their own programming.
Before handing over their airwaves to KPBS, FM 94/9 DJ Tommy Hough said to their listeners, “These are extraordinary times and this is an extraordinary situation. It’s in everyone’s best interest to hand over our airwaves to KPBS.”
“This is a perfect example of how during times of crisis, the community can join together for the greater good,” said John Decker, KPBS-FM Program Director. “We’re grateful that our friends at FM 94/9 have given us the opportunity to continue to inform the San Diego community with our public service.”

This image, from NASA’s Earth Observatory web site, is of the fires in California and was captured at 1:55 p.m. U.S. Pacific on Monday. Places where MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spec- troradiometer) detected actively burning fires are outlined in red. Thick streamers of smoke unfurl over the Pacific Ocean. Visit the page.
Radio coverage continues on Clear Channel’s seven San Diego stations: KOGO, KLSD, Channel 933, Star 94.1, 101.5KGB, US 95.7, and 105.3.
The Clear Channel studios experienced a power outage during the morning hours. Most stations stayed on the air with dead silence.
San Diego 1700 has been wall to wall with media partners at KUSI-TV. Mark Larson writes that the coverage was the “same with our sister stations XX Sportsradio 1090 and 105.7″ and will continue today. Mark adds: “We’re at the Manchester Grand Hyatt this morning broadcasting from the breakfast for hundreds of displaced families who are staying here in the hotel.” California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to stop by.
KyXy did yeoman’s work with Sonny West, Kevin Dean, John Q. Lawrence and Susan DeVincent. Sister station Radio Sophie covered the fires as well.
Cliff and Company kept the home informed at KSON. FM 94/9 and KiFM were mixing music and information.
KPRi’s Madison and the station crew were behind the mic during the day.

Our Exotic pets will be loaded onto our AniMobile and driven to the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
The other small animals will be going to various locations where space is available. (We’ve been told that the Del Mar Horse Park is now full.)
No thoughts about when we will be able to return.
Winds continue to increase and we’re told that the fire moving from Rancho Bernardo toward Rancho Santa Fe will hit our area if it continues on its present path.

US 95.7 names Delana Bennett to middays at the station. She’ll be bringing a boatload of magic to the time slot. Delana is a ten-year veteran of the airwaves in the San Diego market. She has been recently heard on the Jeff and Jer Showgram.
Delana fills the shoes that Cindy Spicer left. Cindy left the station and moved to Costa Rica with her husband. Delana polishes her boots and hangs her hat on Monday.
San Diego 1700’s Mark Larson reunites with his ol’ KFMB-days partner, Ted Leitner starting Monday. Ted is back on Larson on his morning show with sports-and-all-else-Ted reports at 8:15 a.m. Also: the afternoon show of Dennis Miller is expanding to three hours starting at 1 p.m., weekdays.
Clear Channel brass have yet to send out a press release, however several missteps have shown the line-up. Xtra Sports 1360 is expected to name Dave Palet and Jeff Dotseth as the morning drive. Then at 10 a.m., The Sports Page hosted by Josh Rosenberg hits the air for two hours. Josh will have the San Diego Union-Tribune’s Nick Canepa and Tim Sullivan join him.
At noon, Chris Ello takes the mic and talks all thing sports on the station. The cornerstone is Lee Hacksaw Hamilton at 3 p.m. It’ll be the Best 15 Minutes In Radio followed by the legendary show that Hacksaw does. After 7 p.m., the station should fill in the overnight hours with syndicated talk.
Earlier this week, a station memo was ‘accidentally’ sent to the Clear Channel staff in San Diego indicating the station would premiere next weekend. While the message was supposed to be recalled, copies hit the email system outside of the building. The actual date is slated for Thursday, Nov. 1.
The current programming for KLSD-AM 1360 is expected to find a home on Rock 105.3’s HDRadio broadcast on the HD3 multicast station.
Air America’s afternoon host Randi Rhodes was the subject of internet hyperboil this week. She was first tied to a potential hate crime when walking her dog. As the reports bubbled on the optic connections coast to coast, Jon Elliott reported that Randi’s mishap could have been a right-wing hate crime. The next day, Jon, who is based at KLSD set the record straight. Her tumble happened while walking her dog and there were no police blotters filled out. Randi missed a few days from her nationally syndicated show.

Xtra Sports returns to San Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Monday night, an email sent to the staff of Clear Channel Communications was apparently to soon in advance. The official announcement is expected in the next few days, if not sooner.
The line up includes Chris Ello, Josh Rosenberg (pictured), and Lee Hacksaw Hamilton.
Present programming that includes Ed Schultz, Jon Elliott, and Air America will find a new home on Rock 105.3’s HD signal on KIOZ-HD3.
To listen to the digital broadcast, a new radio will have to be bought and clear reception needed to hear the broadcast. Rock 105.3’s HDRadio signal covers most of the mid and coastal areas of the county.
Update: Cliff Albert (pictured with Stacy Taylor at an August rally) writes at the 1360KLSD web site: “While it appears the format will be switching to sports talk in the future, an official announcement about plans for the Progressive Talk format in San Diego will be made very soon.
“Thanks for your support to keep the progressive talk voice alive. As I told our listeners at the Friday morning rally where I tried to directly address their concerns, their feedback has had an impact, even if sports talk were to move onto 1360, which, to be honest, appears will happen.”

The World Famous GelderHead Thought Of The Day: It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. ~ Claude M. Bristol
Drop the talk: 1360 KLSD will drop current programming of Air America, Stacy Taylor, Ed Schultz at the end of the month. Starting the next day, the station is expected to be Xtra Sports 1360 bringing back to the airwaves a San Diego icon.
Expect Lee Hacksaw Hamilton to be one of the lead shows in the afternoon on the sports station with the Best 15-minutes of Radio. Also joining the line up will be Chris Ello (pictured).
Last week, Ello’s former employer announced that he would have the night time program at XX Sports Radio. With a multi-year contract under his belt, Chris will be one of the key locally based shows in the market. XX Sports 1090 announced Chris’ show without firming up a contract with the multi-talented San Diego based host.
There is a very strong leaning to having Dave Palet and Jeff Dotseth on board the station. While there is no indication when they will be on, it could be somewhere in the morning drive. Also named are Union-Tribune columnists as possible show hosts during the day part.
Also, don’t be surprised if Premiere Radio’s Jim Rome finds his home at the sports station, and the possibility that Dan Patrick (pictured) could join the line up. Both programs are distributed by Premiere Radio nationwide to stations. Dan’s show, just weeks old, is primarily on Clear Channel stations across the U.S. XX Sports Radio relay of Dan’s show is eight hours old and sports fans know that news is breaking fast. Noted: Dan’s show can be heard from LA, live, on KLAC, 570 AM from 6 to 9 a.m. The AM station has a decent signal in San Diego county.
Meanwhile as current programing on 1360 KLSD winds down, it is unknown where or if, Stacy Taylor will end up. There has been trail balloons floated by station insiders suggesting that the current line up, sans Stacy, will end up on an HDRadio multicast station on the FM dial. That means potential listeners would have to buy an HDRadio, then hope that reception in their area is adequate enough to receive. It is doubtful that the multicast station could be listened in a moving car outside of the core broadcast area of about ten to fifteen miles from the transmitter. Station officials were not available for comment. (Pictured is NOT a high managlement Clear Channel Texas spokeshole.)
While I have strong hope for, Dave Palet and Jeff Dotseth to be heard local and live, they have been on LA’s ESPN 710. The former hosts of KFMB, XESPN, and Free FM are free agents for the time being. In this reporter’s ears, nothing sounds better than to hear Dave and Jeff finer in the mo-or-or-ing ….
Noted that this move has been in place since August, the time lag has been entirely too long and a disservice to listeners and advertisers to KLSD>

XX Sports fall line up: ) XX Sports Radio CEO John Lynch announced last Thursday, a new fall lineup that includes radio legend Dan Patrick. The new lineup begins today. The lineup as announced:
5 – 9am Scott and BR
9am – Noon Jim Rome
Noon – 2pm “Coach” John Kentera and Joe Tutino
2 – 4pm Dan Patrick
4 – 8pm Too Much Show with “Philly” Billy Werndl and Darren Smith
8 – Midnight The World of Sports According to Chris Ello
“We already have the strongest lineup in sports radio and adding Dan Patrick’s show to the midday just makes us more dominant. With Scott and BR in the morning we have the best local sports morning show in the business. Jim Rome has no equal and he’s one of our own from day one. The Coach John Kentera is part of the fabric of San Diego sports. Darren Smith and Bill Werndl are always on top of the biggest stories in the city and are THE place news breaks.”
As announced last week, Chris Ello was part of the evening line up. However last week he signed a multi-year contract with Clear Channel Communications and is expected not to be in the line up prior to his start on Nov. 1 at another station (see the top story).
“It’s an exciting time for this station and a very good time to be with XX Sports Radio,” said XX Sports Radio Program Director Joe Tutino.
XX Sports Radio 1090AM and 105.7FM is programmed and operated by the Broadcast Company of the Americas and is the home of the San Diego Padres.
BCA is a San Diego LLC and was formed in 2003 to purchase the U.S. marketing and programming rights of 1090 AM; 105.7 FM. Also part of the family is 1700AM, home of conservative talk featuring Mark Larson.
We’ve all heard “you are what you eat.” But what about “your grandchildren might be what you eat…or drink….. or smoke.” A new cutting-edge study of something called epigenetics.
World-famous Neil Ross will voice the next NOVA. It will be on KPBS-TV and KPBS-DT this week. The program airs on Tuesday: “Scientists are uncovering a network of chemical switches that sit on our DNA, turning genes off and on. Called collectively the epigenome, the switches appear to play a major role in everything from how our cells differentiate to whether we contract dread diseases. Might our experiences, by changing our epigenomes, also change the fate of generations of our offspring?”
Neil Ross is a San Diego radio icon, and while he doesn’t like being called that, he is known to hang with Gary Alyn in extreme North County San Diego.
San Diego’s newest talker is at the high end of the AM dial — and it may be considered at the right end of the spectrum as well. Mark Larson programs the station and started the realigning in August. Added were local host New York Myke Shelby, and locally based Ray Lucia. Sprinkle in Dennis Miller, Michael Reagan, and Neil Boortz, plus other programming, AM 1700 is carving a mark in talk radio.
Mark is the program director for the station, and as a locally based PD for a locally base company, he has the decision process … locally based. Mark writes: “San Diego 1700’s Mark Larson has made it official: He’s really NOT running for Congress. He announced the decision while broadcasting his show from Washington, D.C. In case there’s a question re: where his support will go in the 52nd disctrict, he spent an afternoon visiting wounded warriors at Walter Reed Medical Center… in the company of Rep. Duncan Hunter. His son will be running for Dad’s spot on Capitol Hill.
Congratulations on the dad front … in this case grand-dad front: Mark’s son Brandon and wife Tiffany gave birth fo their first child … and Mark and Mrs. Larson’s first grandchild. Mark writes that “Everyone’s doing well, and for a while there was drama about the child’s name.” Mark toyed with the idea of trying to sell naming rights (”El Cajon Ford Larson”, etc) but was surprised with the new parents choice … which they sprung on Mark after the show: Mark Daniel Larson. The bouncing boy weighed in at 8 lbs 12 oz and SDRadio hears it was an emotional time for all.
Also: New York Myke Shelby expands his live, local noon hour show….. he’ll still be on Monday through Friday from 12 to 1, but adds the 1-2PM hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In case you missed it: AM 1700 carries local high school football on Friday nights, USD football on weekends, and NFL Sunday Night Football with exclusive Southern California coverage.
The land slide at La Jolla was a significant event no matter where in the county (or pocket book) the disaster took place. In sampling of the tragedy, the surprise is that KNX, a radio station licensed to Los Angeles, provided the BEST COVERAGE than San Diego stations. Noting that KOGO and KFMB provided updates and necessary evacuation information, KNX coverage was on the air, on the ground and tapped knowledgeable experts for on the air coverage. Geologist, and hydro experts were on tap and earthquake specialists were heard on 1070 AM. San Diego stations, while providing basic coverage, failed in the explanation on why it happened. Kudos to KNX for coverage far and above their normal broadcast area on the movement of earth in La Jolla. KNX is a CBS owned and operated station from Los Angeles.
Tony and Kris: US 95.7 are the home for Tony and Kris in the morning drive. Last week, the morning duo were at the local DMV causing havoc to correct their sociable un-correct California DMV photo. They took over the Clairmont Mesa DMV office offering to “fix” the DMV photo.
The team had Leeland from Hairspray Salon on location offering a free and quick make-over service. The US 95.7 promotion team was on hand for games and prizes ….
The story of radio stations KCBQ, KGB, KDEO, and XEAK as the Top 40 format prevailed over AM radio from 1955 to 1982. Aircheck offers a general history of San Diego radio stations, detailed histories of the four key Top 40 stations, short biographies and photos of each DJ, images of studios, weekly surveys, memorabilia, coverage charts, a glossary of terms, and a full name index. Aircheck deftly covers the degree of competition that occured between stations and among staff to reach and retain top ratings. This soft cover, 8 1/2 X 11 perfect bound book with 112 pages. Order information is at David’s on-line website.
Don Imus, the former host on WFAN is returning to the airwaves. He’ll be on WABC in New York and is expected to be syndicated to other markets in the Citadel radio chain, including KABC in Los Angeles. There is also a suggestion that the I-man will be on a financial talk cable TV station. Part of his old team is expected to join him on Dec. 3 as he “quack-quack” opens the mic again.
Thank you for making SDRadio part of your internet travels today. Just a passing thought: no promos for the potentially failing Frank TV included on the web site.
More news as it happens right here and in ((stereo where available)). See YOU on the radio today and here for the latest breaking news. Thank you for reading and make it a better day than yesterday!

Finally the change is confirmed.
Progressive talker, 1360 KLSD days are numbered. The flagship station for Jon Elliott will drop the current lineup and replace the programming with sports on Nov. 1.
Also out of the 1360 lineup: Stacy Taylor, syndicated Ed Schultz, and Randi Rhodes.
The new line up on November 1 includes: Chris Ello (pictured), Lee Hacksaw Hamilton. There is a strong possibility that Dave Palet and Jeff Dotseth return to the airwaves. The station is expected to resurrect the famous Xtra Sports moniker.
The current Air America lineup and Ed Schultz could find a home on one of the FM multicast stations using HDRadio. Noted: if you think reception was bad outside of the core broadcast area, HDRadio reception is worse. No word on where Stacy Taylor will remain on the San Diego airwaves.
Stay Tuned.
