Z90 added Big Boy’s Neighborhood to their morning line up. Previous San Diego based Chino heads back to Phoenix and Tati is on maternity leave.
Big Boy’s image became well known throughout the Los Angeles Area in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Power 106 placed his nearly-nude 500-plus pound image onto billboards throughout the area. His name comes from large size. He has reduced well over 250 pounds through surgery combined with diet and exercise.
Big Boy has been named Personality of the Year four times by the Radio Music Awards and three times by Radio and Records magazine. The National Association of Broadcasters awarded him the Marconi Award in 2002 and 2004.

Lee Hacksaw Hamilton hit the mic at 3:07 p.m. and kicked off live and local programming for Xtra Sports 1360. “It is a pleasure to be part of the new broadcast team. We invented it in San Diego!” Lee said during the initial broadcast. The first hour was dedicated to the fans with the line up coming in after 4 p.m. to co-chair with Lee.
The line up starting tomorrow:
6am - 10am Dave & Jeff
10am - 12pm The Sports Page
12pm - 3pm World According to Chris
3pm - 7pm Sportswatch with Lee Hacksaw Hamilton
7pm - 11pm JT the Brick.
For those who remember, JT the Brick had a show briefly on KFMB-AM before heading out to Las Vegas. He is presently the evening host for Fox Sports Network.
Stacy Taylor has been offered a position at KOGO:
“The former host of a wide-ranging morning show on the former KLSD-AM 1360 and former evening talk show host on AM 600 KOGO, Stacy Taylor is taking some time off right now but is expected to return. He is available for fill-in work and office parties. But hurry, because Clear Channel has offered him a new show on KOGO and we expect an announcement soon.”
Cliff Albert writes about 1360 KLSD. Visit the web site at
SanDiegoProgressiveTalk.blogspot.com.
“This is going to be a place where former KLSD listeners can come to share their thoughts, their desires and their hopes for progressive talk in San Diego. Effective Monday Nov. 12th at 3 p.m., KLSD-AM switched to XTRA Sports 1360 AM. This was a business decision based on the fact that while we were able to survive for four years since the launch of Progressive Talk AM 1360 KLSD, we have been unable to make it a financial success so that we could continue the format. Sports talk radio attracts more traditional radio advertisers than progressive talk.
We do thank you for your support over the last four years so that we could keep San Diego’s progressive talk voice alive during that time on KLSD. You have been a part of clearly the most loyal audience of any radio station in our community.”While the format has had some challenges being financially successful, the progressive voice will not go away in our community. It will exist in other forms, from the individual voices of our listeners and believers in the progressive cause, to some of our talk show hosts who will continue to be heard in San Diego on traditional radio, around the world on satellite radio, Internet radio and high-tech wireless.
And remember, your support of KLSD and the efforts of our talk show hosts and all those responsible for our format over the last four years, have not been in vain. Anything but. You can take heart in the fact that we all have been able during these last four years to bring to life the progressive voice in San Diego that had been far too dormant in the years before. You and our talk hosts have made a difference in San Diego. And we thank you.
Stay Tuned.

After the fires were under control, I was invited by KOGO’s Cliff Albert to talk with some of the news staff about the fire coverage. See the story on Wednesday at SDRadio.
It was a sold out show and US 95.7’s Tony and Kris gave away four pairs of tickets to the best “Mannah Montanas”. This happened during last Friday’s live “Mannah Montana” broadcast from the San Diego Sports Arena.
Contestants for the contest were judged on their Hannah Montana look and impression. One dad even wrote his own song! There were Marines, construction workers, and teachers all dressed up as Hannah Montana. People came from as far as Arizona and Los Angeles to compete.
There are several ways to send Christmas and holiday cards to servicemembers. Please visit The Post Office List of Requirements. A previous story that listed an address — would have the cards recycled. The complete scoop at Snopes.com.
