KyXy’s Newsman

John Q. Lawrence was part of the morning staple at KyXy’s morning drive. Along with partners Kevin Dean, Sonny West, and Susan DeVincent, John’s newscast were the best.
He did it the best way: wrote the news, and delivered the reports with truth and conviction — unlike any radio newscaster in the county. He covered all points of the county and the world. John’s newscast were the hallmark of San Diego.
Until CBS Radio fired him.
Jerry Del Colliano said it best this week with: “In sports, when you lose, they fire the manager. In radio, when you lose, they fire the team.
