twitter.pngIn the aftermath of the large downtown explosion yesterday KPBS-FM news crew turned to the public for reaction — and gathered some of the reports via Twitter.

The short message service played into part of reporter Erik Anderson coverage of the tragic accident.

More news sites are keeping “Tweets” as a simple method of informing the followers what is going on. Often including hypertext links to news stories, the service is filling in those who want to keep up.

As previously reported, my reports from the coaster commuter train were used twice by Cal Walker at KOGO. KPBS’ coverage took the service to another level by adding an eye witness. Expect this to be super-viral.

Michael Savage can be heard in morning and afternoon drive in San Diego. The live broadcast is heard from 3 to 6 p.m. on 760 KFMB. The next morning, AM 540 has the Savage Nation from 7 to 9 a.m. Mount Wilson Broadcasting’s Mark Levine said that the morning show on AM 540 will offer fresh updates from Michael. The previous station serving LA had canceled the program. AM 540 has picked it up in a unique way.

San Diego 1700’s Mark Larson will do his 5-9 am morning show from the Reagan Ranch on Thursday and Friday. Joining the morning mystro will be special guests including Ann Coulter and Newt Gingrich.

Mark is also emceeing events with Coulter and Gingrich at the Ranch Center with the Young America’s Foundation. A longtime supporter of YAF, Mark is also a Rawhide Circle member of the Reagan Ranch.

MORE REAGAN: The USS Ronald Reagan left San Diego on Monday for a six month deployment. Honorary Plankowner Mark is making plans to again broadcast from the ship later this year. He made broadcast history two years ago when he originated the first long-form talk show from a carrier in a war zone (on the Reagan in the Persian Gulf). Mark also did several shows from inside Afghanistan on that trip. The new Commanding Officer of the Reagan, Capt. Ken Norton, will be do regular live reports on Mark’s show during deployment.
