Scott Rice writes: “I just wanted to let everyone know that our friend and fellow broadcaster, John Morgan past away Friday morning. John died of complications of Prostate cancer. As soon as I get the details of John’s memorial services in Indiana, I will send out an email.

“John had a masters degree in Radio and Television from San Diego State, and spent his life doing what he truly loved RADIO. John not only worked in it, but collected radios. John met the love of his life, Marilyn, while working at KFMB radio. John’s first job was working at KGB 1360 in the mid 1950s as an intern. And of course most recently he was with us at Clear Channel San Diego. He was a husband, father, broadcaster, and friend. In September of 2006 John retired from broadcasting to move to Roanoke, Indiana to live in a farm house. Marilyn told me that when he picked out the house that he didn’t know if it even had closets, but he could tell her every detail of the workshop, and how it would be perfect to work on old radios. John unfortunately never got to set up his dream workshop, and all of the radios were still packed in boxes. Shortly after he got to Indiana he found the cancer was back, and worse than ever.

“In broadcasting, most engineers are very weird in one fashion or another (present company included!), but John was a very special person. John genuinely loved everyone he worked with, and always had a purely positive outlook on life, even after he was diagnosed with cancer.

“John Morgan was a great man, and a fine Christian. The world was made better by his presence for the last 70 years. Everyone that knew John Morgan was proud to call him our friend, and he was proud to be our friend.
