A federal appeals court threw out a $550,000 indecency fine against CBS Corporation for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show that ended with Janet Jackson’s breast-baring “wardrobe malfunction.”

The resulting action had an immediate impact on radio and television as a new “standard” was put in place by the conservative-leaning FCC board.

With the appeals court dismissing the fine, the panel left open that the commission can impose new standards. Stay Tuned.
