The only item left is the “final” vote on the merger of XM and Sirius satellite radio. The official tally is at 2-2. That will change when Federal Communications Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate casts her vote. Word hit the street yesterday that she is in support of the union between XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. In her vote, she is indicating that there will be “some conditions”, according to officials at the agency who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The deal, proposed last year, has taken more time than estimated and nearly killed one of the companies. Officially, Sirius is buying XM Radio and the combined company is expected to be called “XM Radio”.
