FCC is Sirius: XM to be bought by Sirius

The FCC voted Friday and will let Sirius buy rival XM Satellite radio. The merger, once completed, will create a radio monopoly from above. Within 90-days of the new company several items have to be completed.

The HDRadio move to include radio receivers for ground-based stations was not considered. At present, subscribers will not have to buy new radios. Nor will prices rise for at least three-years.

Each company paid a fine to the government, mostly for illegal or over-powered ground repeater systems.
